Q1En1&2 Visits Offener Kanal Lübeck

Last Week on Thursday, 19th February 2026, the two advanced English classes from Q1 visited the OK (“Offener Kanal“) in Lübeck, together with Ms. Ehler and Ms. Musaoglu. The OK is an open and free radio station, where everyone who lives in Schleswig-Holstein can produce their own radio show, podcast or other audios for free. The reason for this visit was a project, that was assigned instead of an exam. For the last weeks we were supposed to write a script for a podcast together in groups.

Then on Thursday it was finally time to record the scripts. The day began at 08:15 h in Lübeck at the location of the OK. There we were led to the group room, where our two supervisors for the day, Michael and Maja, introduced themselves, told us what their job at the OK was about and why it exists. After that they gave us a first introduction into how to record our podcast, for example the best way to practice speaking into the microphone.

The recording process was expected to be long because we were told that there were only two studios available for us to use. But as we got there, they were able to get the third studio ready for recording, which definitely shortened the waiting time for all of us. After the first groups were done with recording, they learned how to cut their recording and how to add music, so that the final product could get really close to resemble a real podcast.

It was a really interesting day, especially because we had the possibility to use professional and expensive equipment. That was definitely exciting and gave the whole project a feeling of professionalism.
